High Pressure Water Jetting - Safety Awareness (SA)

Course Description

The Water Jetting Association (WJA) City & Guilds accredited Safety Awareness course is an entry-level programme. This is a mandatory one-day classroom based course covering the main areas of high pressure water jetting operations and safety requirements, including types of water jetting activities, water jetting pressures and flow rates, risk assessment, and the use of appropriate safety clothing.

The Safety Awareness course must be completed in conjunction with a Water Jetting Module to obtain an operational card, water jetting modules including the following:

(DSP) Drain and Sewer Cleaning and use of a Jetting Gun up to 275 bar

(SP) Surface Preparation

(TP) Tube, Pipe, and Bundle Cleaning

(HD) Hydro Demolition

Course Aims 

This course is based on the Water Jetting Association's Blue "Code of Practice for the Safe use of high pressure and ultra high pressure water jetting equipment." This is a theory-based programme covering the safety principles, equipment, and applications for the safe use of HP (high pressure) and UHP (ultra-high pressure) water jetting operations.

Who Should Attend?

Candidates both new to the industry and experienced operatives who will be carrying out HP and/or UHP water jetting operations. 

FAQs

How is the course delivered?

A WJA-qualified trainer/coach delivers the course on a modular basis where candidates are assessed throughout the day using the Clickapad system. Candidates are required to obtain a 75% pass mark and above in relation to the assessment.

How long will the course last?

This is a 1-day course. Our courses run from 8:30 - 16:30.

What is the course eligibility?

Candidates should have a proficient level of English to participate in this course.

What are the course pre-requisites?

There are no pre-requisites for this course.

What PPE is required?

No PPE is required for this course, however, if attending in conjunction with an operational module, PPE will be required.

What certificates will be achieved?

Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will be registered with the Water Jetting Association, where registrations are valid for 3 years. Candidates will be issued with a Virtual WJA card and certificate. Physical cards can be provided upon request.

**Please note, where candidates complete the Safety Awareness course only, they will be issued a non-operational card. An operational module must be completed in conjunction with the Safety Awareness course to obtain an operational card, e.g. DSP (Drain and Sewer and the use of a jetting gun up to 275 bar), SP (Surface Preparation), TP (Tube and Pipe Bundle Cleaning), HD (Hydro-Demolition).**
