Course Description

This is a 1-day Water Jetting Association (WJA) City & Guilds accredited Safety Awareness refresher re-cap course which is delivered in conjunction with an operational module.

The practical and theory-based course covers the main areas of high pressure water jetting operations and safety requirements, including types of water jetting activities, equipment, water jetting pressures and flow rates, risk assessment, and the use of appropriate safety clothing.

The Safety Awareness refresher is completed first and then an operational module covering both theory and practical.

(SP) Surface Preparation

**Please note where candidates have more than one operational module on their Water Jetting Association registration card, then all modules will renew for 3 years upon successful completion of the Safety Awareness refresher plus one module**

Course Aims

The course provides a refresher on the Water Jetting Association's Blue "Code of Practice for the use of High Pressure Water Jetting Equipment".

On completion of the safety awareness refresher, candidates will complete the SP module, inclusive of theory, practical, and assessment.

(SP) - Surface Preparation

Who Should Attend?

Candidates who are renewing their water jetting association registrations who carry out operational activities associated with Surface Preparation, combined with the use of jetting guns and lances.

How is the course delivered?

This course is split up into 3 parts. Theory, practical, and assessment. This is an in-person, classroom-based course.

Our WJA-qualified trainer/coach delivers the theory elements of the course on a modular basis for the Safety Awareness refresher and Surface Preparation module, where candidates are assessed throughout the day using the Clickapad system. Candidates are required to obtain a 75% pass mark and above in relation to the assessments for Safety Awareness refresher and Surface Preparation.

On completion of the theory, our trainer/coach carries out practical demonstrations on the safe use and operations of water jetting units and associated equipment. This is followed by each candidate being observed by our trainer/coach carrying out water jetting operations inclusive of the use of a jetting lance.

Candidates will complete the practical elements in our purpose-built high pressure water jetting skills academy, or at an appropriate area at an external employer's site.

**Please note the refresher training can be booked 3 months before expiry, or 3 months after expiry. Where booked 3 months before expiry, new registrations will be valid from the date of the refresher course**

How long will the course last?

This is a 1-day course. Our courses run from 8:30 - 16:30.

What is the course eligibility?

Candidates should have a proficient level of English to participate in this course.

What are the course pre-requisites?

Candidates must hold a valid WJA Registration card, inclusive of the Surface Preparation module.

What PPE is required?

Candidates should bring appropriate PPE as follows:

  • Hard Hat
  • Waterproofs
  • Full Face Visor
What certificates will be achieved?

Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will be registered with the Water Jetting Association, where registrations are valid for 3 years. Candidates will be issued with a Virtual WJA card and certificate. Physical cards can be provided upon request.
