Course Description

This is a 1/2 day awareness course providing an overview of the legislation, areas likely to contain ACMs (Asbestos Containing Materials) within buildings, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), RPE (Respiratory Protective Equipment), and standard safety procedures to follow as set out within the Control of Asbestos Regulations (2012).

Course Aims

This course provides an overview and general understanding of asbestos, the three types, where you could find asbestos within buildings including applications and use, how exposure to asbestos fibres can affect your health, and the legal requirements for working with asbestos.

Who Should Attend?

Any person who will be working with/or has the potential to work with Asbestos in Buildings.

How is the course delivered?

A qualified trainer delivers the awareness course covering the course aims, providing an overview of where you might find ACMs within buildings, along with covering key approaches to avoid contact or exposure to asbestos.

A knowledge check question paper is required to be completed at the end of the training programme.

How long will the course last?

This is a 1/2 day course, running from either 9 am - 12 pm or 1 pm - 4 pm.

What is the course eligibility?

Candidates should have a proficient level of English to participate in this course.

What are the course pre-requisites?

There are no pre-requisites for this course.

What PPE is required?

No PPE is required for this course.

What certificates will be achieved?

On successful completion of the course, candidates will receive an MTL certificate and card.
