Asbestos Awareness (Water Mains)

Course Description

This is a 1/2 day awareness course for those working with Asbestos Cement Water Mains. The course provides an overview of the legislation, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), RPE (Respiratory Protective Equipment), and standard safety procedures to follow when removing and repairing asbestos cement water mains as set out within the Control of Asbestos Regulations (2012).

Course Aims

The course provides knowledge, understanding, and awareness of recommended techniques to repair and cut out asbestos cement water mains safely, safe handling & disposal (inclusive of the waste transfer requirements associated with hazardous waste), PPE and RPE requirements to protect you from Asbestos Cement fibres, how asbestos can damage your health, and employer/employee duties under Control of Asbestos Regulations (2012).

Any person who will be working with/or has the potential to work with Asbestos Cement Water Mains (repair and maintenance).

How is the course delivered?

A qualified trainer delivers the awareness course covering the course aims, providing an overview of safe processes and procedures to repair and replace asbestos cement water mains, along with covering key principles to avoid contact or exposure to asbestos fibres during asbestos water mains repairs and replacement.

A knowledge check question paper is required to be completed at the end of the training programme.

How long will the course last?

This is a 1/2 day course, running from either 8:30 am - 12 pm or 12:30 pm - 4 pm.

What is the course eligibility?

Candidates should have a proficient level of English to participate in this course.

What are the course pre-requisites?

There are no pre-requisites for this course.

What PPE is required?

No PPE is required for this course.

What certificates will be achieved?

On successful completion of the course, candidates will receive an MTL certificate and card.
