Having moved into a new financial year, we reflect upon the company and team’s achievements during 2023/2024 where we successfully launched a range of exciting new products and services. Our passion and dedication to the sector did not go unnoticed, as our team were recognised via multiple prestigious UK-wide industry accolades and awards.

The UK Growing Business Awards
The Growing Business Awards have been honouring outstanding entrepreneurs and high-growth businesses since 1998. In 2023, McCrae Training was delighted to be short-listed and nominated alongside UK growing businesses for Growing Business of the Year 2023 in the turnover of up to £10m category. In November 2023, we attended the event in London where we were one of the 4 UK runners-up in a category of thousands.
The Growing Business Awards celebrate UK business achievements in areas including growth, people and culture, diversity, customer loyalty, and innovation. We were elated to be recognised across the UK.
The Federation of Small Business Awards
The Federation of Small Business Awards is a prestigious event that recognises the accomplishments of small businesses across the UK. These awards shine a light on the outstanding work by businesses, their innovation, resilience, and contribution to the UK economy.
Last year, McCrae Training was thrilled to be nominated, and awarded runner-up, for the Larger Small Business of the Year.
The Lanarkshire Business Excellence Awards
McCrae Training had the pleasure of being short-listed for the Lanarkshire Business Excellence Awards, following a challenging 3-month interview process conducted by Scottish Enterprise, South & North Lanarkshire Council. We were delighted to be invited to the esteemed Lanarkshire Business Awards Dinner at the Motherwell Concert Hall.
Having been shortlisted down to the final 4 companies, we were proudly awarded Lanarkshire’s Best Business in the 11- 50 Employees category.
Water Industry Skills Champion of the Year
With a career spanning three decades within the UK and international water and utility sectors, it is a testament to his unwavering commitment to utilising his knowledge, skills, and experience to enable excellence and professional development of current and emerging talent across the water industry.
This was a further prestigious endorsement with McCrae Training previously winning the Energy & Utility Skills Water Industry Training Organisation of the Year in 2018 and 2019. We are steadfast in our commitment to delivering high-quality training across the UK and Irish Water Industry, Utilities, and Construction Sectors. Our relentless pursuit of excellence is underscored by our dedication to providing high-quality training and consistently earning independent recognition across the UK.
The Allen Bolton Award – Institute of Water
Allen Bolton, a stalwart of the Institute of Water and one of the founders, spent a lifetime in service to the water industry, serving in every office holder position within the Institute throughout his extensive career.
He was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007 to mark his dedication.
Following the sad passing of Allen in 2011, the Allen Bolton Award for Exceptional Commitment to the Water Industry was established in his memory, and in recognition of everything he did for the Water industry and the Institute.
Scott McCrae has been an active member of the Institute of Water since 1991, and started his career in the UK Water Industry in July 1987. He was recognised for dedication and service to the Institute of Water and UK Water Industry by being presented with the Allen Bolton Award.
After receiving this prestigious award, Scott said, “I feel incredibly privileged and honoured to be awarded the Allen Bolton Award, and having met Allen personally at many previous Institute of Water Annual Conferences, fills me with great pride and a sense of absolute humility.”
As we embark on a new financial year, we remain steadfast in our mission.
