What is CITB?
The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) plays a crucial role in ensuring that those working within the sector are equipped with the right skills, knowledge and qualifications to do their job effectively.
CITB is the industry training board for the construction sector in England, Scotland, and Wales. It’s their job to help the construction industry attract talent and to support skills development, to build a better Britain.
They work for the construction industry by seizing opportunities to engage decision-makers, influence policy, and build dynamic partnerships across government, business, and communities. Their aims include:
- Helping the government to recognise industry needs for skill development
- Working with local enterprise partnerships, regional bodies, and national administrations to support training priorities
- And attracting more people into construction, and more employers to invest in training
McCrae Training is a CITB Approved Training Organisation
A CITB Approved Training Organisation (ATO) is an organisation which provides construction training courses and qualifications to a defined and industry-agreed training standard.
As an ATO, we are recognised by CITB, as well as the British construction industry, as a training provider who can deliver quality training that meets the industry approved standards.
Our CITB Training Courses
The CITB Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E) test is an important way for construction workers they can work safely. For employers, having workers who have passed the CITB HS&E test is assurance that their workforce can keep themselves and those around them safe.
We regularly schedule these tests on Tuesdays and Thursdays; each test session lasts 45 minutes each, and are delivered at our state-of-the-art Learning & Development Centre in East Kilbride.
Our CITB – Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) is one of our newer courses joining our already expansive portfolio. It is a two-day course designed for individuals who currently have, or are about to take on, supervisory responsibilities within the building, construction, and civil engineering industries.
The course aims to equip supervisors with the necessary skills to:
- Supervise health and safety on-site in accordance with current legal requirements and within the context of their role
- Understand their responsibilities and accountability for the health, safety, and welfare of workers on-site
- Recognise the benefits of maintaining a safe, efficient, economical, productive, and environmentally friendly work environment
This course is scheduled to be delivered every second month, also at our accredited Learning & Development Centre – find our upcoming dates by our course page.
